A move-in clean is worth far more before your belongings arrive than after. The value is entirely in the access.

  1. Closing or handover day

    You have keys, and in most cases the property is empty. This is the earliest the clean can happen and usually the best moment for it.

  2. The gap before the truck

    Anywhere from a few hours to a week. This is the window a move-in clean is built for — every cabinet open, every floor clear, nothing to work around.

  3. Moving day

    Boxes go into a home where the shelves, closets, appliances and floors have already been cleaned. Nothing you own gets put away onto somebody else’s dust.

  4. After you are in

The seller had it cleaned. Do I still need this?

That is your call, and sometimes the answer is no. What a pre-sale clean usually leaves behind is the inside of cabinetry, closet shelving, appliance interiors and window tracks — the parts nobody looks at during a showing but you will use on day one.

Can you clean after the movers have gone instead?
